Snellmanin Kokkikartano gets a new, automated warehouse in Kerava. Consafe Logistics will provide an intelligent warehouse management system for the facility.
Two years ago, Kokkikartano faced a positive problem: more demand than they could meet. The bottleneck was warehouse management and product delivery to customers, so the company decided to invest in a completely new, automated warehouse and warehouse management system. In its tender, Snellman Group selected Consafe Logistics as its warehouse management partner for its Kokkikartano facility.
The initial selection criteria for Kokkikartano’s new warehouse management system were specific technical features, user-friendliness, and seamless compatibility with automation. However, in the final stages of the tender, the supplier’s experience and reliability became an increasingly important factor.
We wanted an intelligent and modern warehouse that will efficiently serve both our customers and us, now and in the future. In addition to being a technically brilliant supplier, we were also looking for a partner with the know-how and experience to help and challenge us to develop our processes. We wanted a long-term partner who we can trust for more than 10 years”, says John Aspnäs, IT Manager at Snellman Group.
“We invest in Finland because we want to operate locally, close to our customers. This ensures that we can offer them the most suitable solution for their current and future needs”, says Pekka Lehtinen, MD. of Consafe Logistics Oy.
Snellman Group operates in the food production industry, where the functionality and efficiency of logistics are essential. In this case, the entire infrastructure of the warehouse, with its software, must work together seamlessly and flawlessly, even at short notice.
“We operate in an industry where product’s best before -date is one of the critical factors in logistics. Inventory management must then be extremely effective in minimizing food waste for our customers and us. In addition, the traceability of products in the supply chain must be 100 percent”, explains Aspnäs.
According to Lehtinen, Kokkikartano’s future warehouse management system will be the brain of the entire warehouse operations:
“The warehouse management software is like a brain that combines different systems into one functional entity. It optimizes the storage, collection, and delivery of products to the customer. The company then knows exactly when, where and what is happening.”
After a smooth and transparent purchasing process with Consafe Logistics, the construction project ahead is long and challenging, but Aspnäs is confident:
“We have already had a conversation with the Consafe Logistics management, chief architects, and technical project staff, and everything looks promising.”
Kokkikartano’s new smart warehouse will be completed in Kerava in the summer of 2023.
